detection frequency

Detection frequency is the frequency something is checked for change. The sweeping pattern of a searchlight is an example of detection frequency.

The detection frequency is dependent upon the expectation that something will be detected. This single expectation literally shapes not only the frequency, but the form of the detection as well.

Take the searchlight example: the amount of ground covered by the searchlight helps determine how frequently ground has to be covered.
