absolute threshold
The absolute threshold is the minimum amount of a stimulus you can detect 50% of the time.
In reality, an absolute threshold doesn't exist. The minimum amount of a stimulus you can detect will be different from what another person can detect depending on how sensitive you are to the stimulus. Other factors that influence your absolute threshold include whether or not you are adapted (used to) the stimulus and your motivations and expectations of what you will be able to detect.
